Singer/Songwriter Phil Nasr's break occured through a nationally released compilation album for Orthodox Christian musicians entitled The Cross Culture Project featuring the song, I've Tried. This song reflected a time in his life that dealt with an addiction which many can connect to via the lyrics. After landing that opportunity, a second of Phil's songs, Chasing the Sun, was used on the WB hit, Smallville Season 3 DVD.

This 5 minute instrumental is a musical rollercoaster ride which is an expression of his desire to head west to the Los Angeles area.

He has played solo performances in the Oklahoma City area, Boston, and Los Angeles in hopes of getting his music heard. To him it is not about anything except using a gift he was blessed with and being the musician that he is...nothing more, nothing less.

After 4 years on hold, Phil is back in the studio working on his new album that will feature many new sounds. His stories of life are interconnected to his musical diversity that are shown through his songs. This ever evolving style is drastically influenced by his love for music and his emotional connection with this gift.

Phil and his wife, Patricia, currently reside in the Oklahoma City area after moving back from Los Angeles. Only time will tell what road they will travel. Check your local listings to see if he is playing in your area soon!

MUSICAL INSPIRATIONS:
The Animals, The Beatles, Bela Fleck, Elvis Costello, John Denver, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Elton John, B.B. King, Dave Matthews Band, India Arie (a+), Mozart, Phil Nasr (hahaha), Cary Pierce, Rachmaninov, the list goes on.

WHAT INFLUENCED YOU TO FOLLOW MUSIC?
I would have to say my lack of direction in everything else. Whenever I try to do something else I always seem to sink back into my musical venture. Therefore I sat and realized that maybe this is were I belong. During all of this I composed several hits in my own eyes that always sounded unfinished. I tried every avenue for a secular career, but I'm too right brained for that stuff. God sent me on a roller coaster ride to finally realizing that my ministry in life is music and as long as I live up to my end of a Christian life, He will be happy.

BACK TO YOUR MUSIC, HOW LONG HAVE YOU PLAYED?
Gosh, I have been playing an instrument since I was 5, at least. The piano was my first instrument, then went to violin, then went to baritone and tuba, then finally guitar. That's were I stopped searching for my musical outlet. I found it when I picked up the guitar in the seventh grade. I guess all in all I have been playing for nearly 20 years music all together, but guitar for about 15 probably.

ARE YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO BE AS TO MUSIC?
With music there will never be a finally, only a continuous road to happiness though the road is mostly bumpy. I got to release a live recording of a few songs that was done in a week due to a lack of time. I wanted to have something to show for myself, a mark of my musical creativity. Past Life History was is not the way I really wanted it to be and at times I sometimes regret the outcome, but then again that was my first album and with the resources I had it became a nice outline of where I wanted to take my music. It has several styles that exhibits a vast selection to choose from, but with the help and direction of a few friends out in Los Angeles and St. Louis, I have finally found the direction I want to go in..talking about style. Hopefully I will release the first of my two part series entitled PITIFUL WORLD CHAPTER ONE in August. Other names are arising but we still have time for choosing. I will always keep going, that is were I belong, I have a God given talent that I do not want to waste and I encourage all who have a talent to use them to the up most abilities.
